A sporting organization is like any other organization. They protect their own interests and the interests of their employees. With that being said, the interests of their employees are often tied to various other causes. Some of these topics include mental health disabilities of loved ones, cancer ridden patients of friends and inner city poverty. Because of this, athletes and the organizations of these athletes take part in donating their time and services to help.
NBA Employee Volunteer Program is one such program that allows for NBA employees to give back to the community where they see fit. They have assisted in the fight against HIV/Aids and natural disasters. Their Sport for Development program reaches a worldwide youth audience and promotes positive thinking and action. Their League-Wide programs also reach out 2-3 times a month. Employees of the WNBA, NBA and D-League contribute to these programs.
